Chapter 3
~ Target: Guardian Statue of Elbesem ~

Quonus Village: Night

Arriving at night Benetram and Synbios are alarmed to find Quonus village eerily quiet, it soon dawns on the party however that one of their number is missing! With Julian no where to be found inside headquarters, Synbios and Grace decide to head out into the dark night to look for him.

As they begin to search the village they can find no trace of Julian or the villagers! The only thing they can sense is a dark present's growing every stronger in the night! Exploring the village you can find a handful of items, but watch out for the furniture it seems to have developed a life of it's own, Mhahahaha!

Picture Item Where Found
30 Gold Coins Inside the shop check the cupboard behind the counter.
Brave Apple Found in crate inside a house, near the shop.

Scared senseless by the strange events in the village Synbios and Grace find themselves being drawn to the graveyard at the north of the village. As they open the iron gates of the graveyard the they are greeted by a figure dressed in yellow. Revealing himself to be an Elbesem monk named Khan, he advises Synbios to leave this curse village. Just then a door to the left of them opens and in walks a familiar figure of Julian to greet them. Relieved to see that Julian is unharmed and after talking to Khan they learn that they are not the only people in the village.

Khan
Khan

Before they can finish there conversation it appears they have awoken the residents of the graveyard and the villagers too! It doesn't look like their going to welcome you with open arms however! Luckily for Synbios, Grace, Julian and Khan the main gate to the grave yard opens again to reveal Benetram, Dantares and the rest of the team. Drawing their weapons they prepare for battle. There's just one problem you can't kill the villager unless you want to make Quonus a ghost village for real! Time for Khan to wield that Elbesem Orb of his and save the cursed people of Quonus!

Scenario 1, Battle 11: Graveyard of the Damned!

Advice:
These people are controlled by the Vandal. Synbios, use Khan's power and save those villagers from it's clutches!

Battle Notes:
1. Each one of the Kyon-shi is a member of the village, if you kill them you will make Quonus a ghost village for real! You will also lose Noon as a playable character.
2. Instead get Khan use use the Elbesem Orb on each of them, this way they will appear in the village once the Vandal has been defeated.
3. Kahn is AI controlled For the course of this battle.

With the villagers either permanently resting in peace or sent back to sleep thanks to the Elbesem Orb. Synbios's battalion approaches the dark mansion they can clearly sense the evil aura coming from it. Fearing the worse Benetram explains that Governor Gavin may have sold his village to a Vandal for the steam train technology.

Vandal

Could it be that the master of the mansion is a Vandal! The team rallies together and prepares to face their most powerful opponent yet. With Khan now a full member of the team they enter the dark mansion. As the door closes behind them, they hear the undead get to their feet they've come to protect their unholy master and in the darkness they here those immortal words "Bring it on Republican Scum!".

Note: In the Japanese version the Vandal is called Abdark as that's his name, he is also an inferior Vandal as he doesn't have a spirit inside of him, instead he is the son of a Vandal that does have a spirit. This was cut from the English translation however.

Scenario 1, Battle 12: The Unholy Mansion

Advice:
1. This battle will be difficult don't push too far ahead. Take your time and use caution Synbios.
2. We can defeat the Vandal! First, use Kahn's treasure orb to strike the Vandal.
Advice 1 changes to 2 when the Vandal appears.

Battle Notes:
1. Remember to destroy all the barrels blocking the door.
2. The Vandal does not enter the battle till, you are quite deep inside the mansion.
3. The Vandal can not exit the room he is in.

Quonus Village: Day Break

As the Vandal coughs his last words he asks Bulzome to avenge him and informs Julian that he is no match for Galm! Take your time to explore the mansion, as there are a few items to find, also remember to check the switch in the old machine room, as you will see a strange Goblin called Ratchet appear if you do. Discovering his master is dead he will make a bolt for freedom and leave a lasting impression on the old mansion. Now it's time to leave the mansion and recruit the Wizard Noon to your party.

As you head outside dawn has broken and the sun has finally risen over Quonus! So long as you didn't kill the Kyon-shi that was Noon, you should see a mage dressed in blue standing near the pond, time to have a chat with him! After Noon has joined your team, you're now free to search the remainder of Quonus and (so long as you didn't bump off the Kyon-shi's that were the shopkeepers) buy and sell items and equipment.

With the Vandal Curse now lifted and peace restored to the village of Quonus. But the Empire is not stupid and General Franz stands between them and freedom!
Franz
Franz

As Synbios's battalion approaches the end of the Imperial territory, they see the massive Imperial force of General Franz awaiting them. Outnumbered three to one, things aren't looking good, but with no other options they press on into combat, praying for a miracle. Once again, lady luck is smiling on Synbios however and help will come in a very unlikely form!

Scenario 1, Battle 13: Road to the Republic

Advice:
We must stay north, maintain our mobility, engage them on our terms, and keep the scattered!

Battle Notes:
1. Shortly after attacking the first group of Franz troop's. Spiriel's army will turn up and the infighting will begin, use this to your advantage!
2. Spiriel, the Lich & the Succubus, will move quickly to escape the battle across the bridge and cannot be attacked or harmed during this battle
3. The White Lord's will also move to escape the battle once they have removed any troop's blocking their path. They can however be attacked and will attack you if you block their path.

With the battle over Franz is in a state of shock, having been betrayed by one of his fellow general's. As they cross over the bridge they arrive in neutral territory nearly there now. But what was General Spiriel thinking attacking her ally and where was she headed? It's at this point Benetram will point out about the nearby Vagabond Caravan and asked if you want to stop there for a moment. Stopping at Vagabond will not effect the next battle in any way and if you don't stop there, you will lose the chance to get three extra team members!

As with before when you spoke to him he will run off again, but don't worry, as he'll join you in chapter four now. Next up in one of the tents is an old lady who found a large egg speak to her and ask her to sell the egg to you for one hundred gold coins and don't let her eat it! Now remember that chicken that joined us in chapter two well, take the large egg and use it on the chicken. After the egg has hatchet you will see it make a bolt for the exit and away it goes, don't worry that was Penn and you can also now recruit him in chapter four.

Last but not least head into the large tent acting as a hospital and speak to the wounded centaur named Justin. Synbios begins to question the ex-member of Edmund unit but he refused to say why he was left behind by Edmund and asks Synbios to leave. Now as you try to leave Vagabond, Justin will emerge from the large tent and ask you to wait, explaining that Edmund has started to doubt about the Republic. He asks to join Synbios's team and who can say no to a bow knight archer!

2. Edmund will appear near Garzel and five Aspia Soldiers will appear from the south cliff face.
3. Don't worry about fighting Edmund, as you cross the bridge Garzel will remove Edmund from the battle in a spectacular scene!

With the bloody battle over Synbios's party, start their search for both Julian and Edmund, but with the waterfall so fierce it looks like neither could have survived the fall. Against everyone else's wishes Benetram calls off the search, fearing the worse. Soon afterward Medion joins Synbios at the bridge after discussing events, Benetram requests if Medion will head to the Elbesem to see what Bulzome is planning. Medion also thanks Benetram for allowing Zero to help them, but he requests that he returns with Synbios back to the Republic, after a tearful fair well from Syntesis and Uryudo, Zero returns to Synbios's team.
